My Top 3 FREE Fitness Apps

As someone who is obsessed with technology and the newest gadgets I couldn’t imagine not bringing my technological lifestyle into my healthy lifestyle.   I of course have the iPhone4, the iPad2 and all the other latest geeky obsessions, but I am easily able to justify having these gadgets by how simple it makes living healthy.  And even though I spend a little money on the technology itself, I am quite the bargain shopper and can honestly say there is NOT ONE paid app on my devices!

I travel a lot and there are tons of apps that I use on a regular basis to keep me in track with my fitness goals.   So, I have decided to share the

Top 3 FREE Health/Fitness Applications that I use on a daily basis.

Lets start with my FAVORITE!

1. Lose It!: With Lose It! you never have to worry about not knowing the calories your are about to take in again.   Lose It! has a extraordinary database of foods from restaurants, supermarkets and nature alike.  You can change the portion size if you end up not eating the entire meal (or even if you ate too much) and it allows you to make modifications to restaurant menu items!

With Lose It! you can also track your weight loss goals.  Lose It! evaluates your weight loss goal, whether it be 10lbs or 100lbs and then tells you how many calories you should take in per day in order to achieve your goal.   Lose It! will chart your progress daily, weekly and throughout your weight loss journey!  Even if you’re not trying to lose weight, Lose It! can help you stay on track to maintaining your weight as well.

Another awesome feature of Lose It! is that it allows you to add your exercises and calories burned throughout the day from everything like running or cycling to housework and even calories burned during SEX!

This is one app that I find myself turning to quite often, especially when I am eating out for work or with friends.  Lose It!  allows me to discretely check calories and order a healthy option and pretty much any chain restaurant that I go to.

2. iMapMyRun: is a great app for those who run 1 mile or those who run 20.   Unlike expensive watches that runners sometime buy in order to track their run statistics, this is a FREE app that does it for you!   iMapMyRun uses GPS technology in order to gain information on real time distance, pace and speed.   You can sync this app with your Facebook or Twitter accounts in order to keep track of your runs and share them with friends/family.

One of the things I like most about this app is that it gives your current running pace during your run.  So if there is a certain time that you are trying to get your run in, this app allows you to know in real time whether or not you’re on track to obtaining your goal.   The app will also give you a detailed overlook at your entire run in general and once signing up for an account online it even has a voice coach option.   Really neat app for those who are in to running!

3. 2Fat: is a great body mass index calculator app that I use.  Throughout my journey back to health, I have talked about my body mass index (BMI) quite a bit.   In the beginning I remember telling you that I was obese and I am always talking about my current BMI.  Well this is the application that generates this information that I share with you.

All you have to do is enter your current weight along with your height and it instantly generates your BMI and tells you whether that is overweight, obese, normal, or underweight.   It will also give you the number.   This application also has the ability to calculate your body fat percentage by entering in your weight with the size of your waist.

This is a simple application that I use to set goals for me weight and stay on track.
